Giving Thanks To God
- Opening Prayer: Read What We Do
- Praise and worship: Read What We Do
- Prayer request: Read What We Do
- Game: Carry the food
- Ask kids: What they did for Thanksgiving.
-
- Explain what Thanksgiving
is and let this lead into the Bible
lesson (talk enough about Thanksgiving to
settle the kids down but not enough to
relax them, remember you will talk about
the Bible and you want them listening.)
- Object Lesson: Cutting Corners (Im still thinking, does anyone have a
good one For Thanksgiving?) Please email me if you do.
- Game: Tell the kids how you play/watch
sports on Thanksgiving so it wouldn't be right if you
didn't play a sport today. Bring out the basket ball hoop
(or trash can) and let four kids fire away. Let two kids
on a team, one retrieves the balls and the other shoots.
Of course the one that makes the most baskets wins. You
could make it more challenging by having the kids play
with a football instead of a basketball. (It is football
season)
- Life App. Story: Tell the story of Dave
Roever, or of Reggie White
Contrast the heroes with
those who focus on themselves rather than God. With these two
stories we hope to let the kids know how
important it is to focus on God our whole
life. Every choice counts.
- You may try a craft if you have smaller
kids: Have the kids trace around their hands with a
crayon. Then have a leader put glue or paste inside the
lines to cover the "Turkey". Let the kids pour
different kids (colors) of spices on the glue or paste.
When the kids are done have plastic Baggies that the
papers will fit in and put them in the bags for the kids
to take home.
